SpaceClaim can cut geometric models. Why cut? There could be many reasons – perhaps to facilitate hexahedral mesh generation, to facilitate boundary condition loading, or to perform splitting, modifying, and deleting operations on geometric models.
- For example, in SpaceClaim, the geometric model is as shown below. If you want to generate hexahedral mesh for this model, you can pre-split the geometric model in SpaceClaim.

- If you want to split this model along the red dashed line path, what is the most convenient way?

- Directly use the left mouse button to select the upper and lower boundary lines, then CTRL+C, CTRL+V to copy and paste these two boundary lines.

- In the left tree, you can see these two boundary lines under Curves.

- In the model interface, hide the solid model to see the two copied boundary lines.

- Next, try using the 3D sketching feature in SpaceClaim. In Sketch, select Enable 3D Sketch to enable 3D sketching, and use the Line function to connect the two boundary lines.

- After connecting, the boundary lines consist of 4 lines.

- In the left tree under Curves, you can see 4 lines.

- Next, you need to convert these 3D lines into a surface. Use the Fill function in Design.

- Select these four lines.

- After completion, it converts to a Surface.

- A newly generated Surface appears in the left tree.

- Finally, you can use this Surface to split the solid model. Use the Split Body function in Design.

- Splitting completed.
